If you’re experiencing reduced range of motion, pain, or even loss of strength, movement-based massage treatments can provide you with much-needed relief. Using a state of the art soft tissue massage technique known as the Active Release Technique (ART), Dr. Bomberg is able to treat problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves gently and effectively. Through a membership program and ongoing training, Dr. Bomberg is able to offer all the benefits of ACT therapy at an advanced level. In order to stay certified to be able to offer this exclusive form of massage therapy, Dr. Bomberg spends 16 hours in training each year.

Also referred to as movement based massage, the Active Release Technique can quickly resolve many common issues, including headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow. While these issues may all be very different from one another, they are all typically caused by a buildup of scar tissue. Injury or overuse can cause scar tissue to develop around muscles, resulting in limited mobility and even pain.

What Is The Active Release Technique?

Scar tissue can have a major impact in your range of motion and overall comfort. As scar tissue develops, tissues that were once able to move freely may become restricted. Over time, your muscle strength may decline, nerves can become trapped within scar tissue, and painful problems such as tendonitis can occur. These hidden issues surface as symptoms including reduced mobility, pain, loss of muscle strength, and even tingling or numbness.

During an ART therapy session, Dr. Bomberg will both examine and treat the soft tissue in order to gently correct problems using precise movements. Tissues including muscles, ligaments, nerves, and tendons are evaluated based on their texture, mobility, and tightness. If an abnormality is detected in a specific area, it is treated with carefully applied tension and movements.

As a certified Active Release Technique provider, Dr. Tom Bomberg is committed to providing his patients with effective, state of the art treatments. Through ongoing trainings, Dr. Bomberg has continued to build his knowledge about this technique and how it can benefit his patients.

What Can You Treat Using The Active Release Technique?

The Active Release Technique is a safe and effective method that can be used to treat issues caused by built up scar tissue. Combined with regular chiropractic adjustments, the Active Release Technique can be used to treat a variety of common issues including:

  • Lower back pain
  • Tension headaches
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Shin splints
  • Tennis elbow
  • Knee problems
  • Injuries

Through the Active Release Technique, Dr. Bomberg is able to provide highly-targeted treatments that focus on the affected areas. A simple, yet thorough, examination of the soft tissue allows him to pinpoint a wide array of issues that can have a major impact on your overall health and comfort. This non-invasive but very effective technique can restore function and mobility.

A combination of manual adjustments and movement based massage can provide you with lasting relief from pain caused by injury or overuse. In many cases, abnormal or damaged tissue can remain undetected for extended periods of time, and eventually result in injury. A knowledgeable and experienced practitioner can quickly detect and treat any damaged or abnormal tissues, often preventing the issue from becoming worse.
